07 Grand Prix sedan 3.8eng. 110000miles. Rack mount breaking Sign In

About year ago I hit a pothole and broke rt r&p mount tab Have replaced rack twice and it broke right at the weld on rt side both times. It’s broken now. So don’t know what could be causing this. It’s non variable assist type I used a cardone remanufactured rack. Don’t know if I got 2 defective racks in a row or what. Any help would be great.

It's not fair but your aren't supposed to hit pot holes which are too common and left unfixed too long or just patched and return in no time.
I looked this up the mount tab for passenger's side seem a bit weak on this?
ARE your replacements just new guts to this or can you see a fix/weld to put another tab put on?
Quick look for these showed wild price differences IDK if that matters. Hitting a hole would probably void any warranty that's kind of accident damage.

I'll try to post a picture of this unit if it shows can see that mount doesn't look strong enough in pics, clearly isn't taking hitting pot holes and surviving that well,

Pic > a maybe they don't always show is below...left if it does is right side of car,

Thank you for your reply. Yea I’m thinking that too. I’m thinking of getting one from auto salvage. They’re about 50 bucks. So not as costly and possibly original equipment. Still gonna try getting refund at auto supply. They say they’re warranty is lifetime limited. Lol. We’ll see. You know maybe they sold me the wrong one twice. Thx again

? "Limited Lifetime" warranties. Read fine print, bet it shouldn't cover ….. hitting a hole, abuse in a long list of how not to pay up!
I can't know if reman parts like this were welded back up and the weak spot so it happens again but that crossed my mind.
Plain new was really costly.
Where you win is if you are actually going to a brick and mortar store the associate you deal with probably doesn't care or know so you get $$ back or another??
Used. Another quandary is you really should want to see the wreck or why the vehicle was a total loss. If a wild accident I personally don't want this off of that one. Nor ones that are not fresh stock for salvage.
You've done this twice so something went wrong we may not know why for sure. Good luck. See how you make out and if going to try used see if you can know why that car is there.
What you don't need is a rack violated or already exposed to dirt or water you'll risk taking out the pump would just be on you adding to this headache!
