Hello, I went to wal-mart and everything was fine. I walked around for 20 minutes or so, and when i came out and got into the car it was making a flat tire noise. I pulled over and the tire was completely fine no holes or anything. But the tire was diagonally upward I was confused about how that happened. But anyways i jacked up the car took off the tire and found a ball socket or something that was released? Could someone tell me what this is and how to fix it please and thank you!

Yep, that's your upper ball joint and it has come apart. It probably comes as the whole control arm. This is why your car should be inspected routinely to catch things like that before your wheel falls off and somebody gets killed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Okay, Thank you. And I'm thankful no one got hurt. The car has been hard to maintain this past year. Due to money issues. Anyways, is this an easy fix or will i need to bring it into a shop?

So I couldn't just buy a new ball joint and then re press it? I need a whole new kit? I understand that i need to put money into it, but i only have the weekend to do it and i don't have a lot of money.

Buy a bicycle then. You don't need to driv a car that's not safe. Everybody has money issues.

I wish my job was close enough so I could ride a bicycle to work. If you think about it, you bike for a couple of months or so and the gas money you would had to put into driving the car would pay for the parts. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Eh - not really so DIY for most but it can't even be driven anymore like that. As things go the part is cheap shown here as the whole arm w joint.......... Duralast/Ball Joint - Upper Part Number: 520-369 Alternate Part Number: 520-369 Warranty: Limited Lifetime Notes: Front suspension, control arm and ball joint. Sedan. Price:$49.99 YES that look up showed just the joint for less of course but then you need to know more and have more to install it. Didn't look like it was greasable in you picture or the replacement. You pic - look again, they wheel is hanging on by a brake rubber hose! You do check them all and all the moving front end parts periodically so no surprises like this. Once again we are saying this has to be fixed period and any other joints in bad shape. Frequently mentioned that costs are an issue. What's a life worth because you ignore these things? Not saying it's you fault but you need to assertively check these things before something like that happens, T
