04 chevy malibu LT 6 cylinder clunking noise

Have clunking when moving wheel while parke. Need help diagnosing please. Strut mount if what ive researched but not sure. Please help.

Sounds to me like possibly the Steering Intermediate shaft making noise
Common on GM cars.
It would have to be properly diagnosed.
There is a TSB that MAY help you

If it is the intermediate shaft is it something that needs fixed right away or more of a just annoying thing to deal with?

Depending on the cause.
When it comes to anything Steering related, or anything that could be safety related, its always best to have it inspected right away.
Once its determined what the cause of the noise is, then you can go from there.
I can only advise on doing the proper thing and having it inspected . Or if you're capable, follow the Bulletin procedure and see if you can determine if the noise is coming from the shaft. Should be pretty simple to access and determine

After further inspection under the dash the noise is definitely the loudest however the joints dont look bad and i dont see anything unusual. I also checked with the wheen off it is an older car but suspension looks all in decent shape. Im on a very limited budget so ill swap it out next weekend and see if it solves the problem
