ok I have a problem. My ac compressor went out and so I bought a new drier ( i know you should replace expansion valve also) and went to the junkyard and got a ac compressor.I added oil and I pulled a vacuum for about a hour and went to fill my ac system and both the high and lowside stay at the same pressure while the compressor is engaged. The system fills up really fast. A quarter can will push the system up to 50psi. when I evacuated the system barely anything came out. I tore the system back down to make sure I could blow air with my mouth through the high and low side. I could but it was freely flowing. the car is a 2001 subaru outback. Is the compressor not working?

Who knows what is wrong with this system. This is why AC work is not a DIY repair. It requires far too much experience and observation to understand what is going on in the system. Depending on how this system failed in the first place, you could be making things a lot worse

Ditto:
Are you even using gauges or what? Did you spin oil thru new compressor before installing it? If not probably wrecked itself in a minute of running dry. Not a DIY thing.

This is the least thing on a car you can try to do without proper understanding and equipment to save a buck but rather cost lots more than it would have if you never touched it.

You can probably get a new/replacement compressor then get some help and find out what was wrong the first time and how much more is wrong now,

What happened to the old compressor? Did it seize up? Did you see metal in the compressor's oil when you drain it?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
