problem with guages

I checked my guages on two different vehicles. all were blowing ice cold air.
Each time both guages registered the same pressure.
Then I unplugged the low pressure line from the casr and just hooked up the high pressure line. Now both low and high pressure still show the same pressure. Why would the low pressres show any pressure since the low pressure line is not hooked up?
Does this mean the guage tree is fouled up?

That's the only way he's going to have equilized pressure readings on 2 different working systems.

I'm just messing with you.......can't count how many times I've done that............saw a tech almost sell a compressor cuz of that once......

I hope he didn't have a can attached to those gauges. Shut off the wrong one first and the 4th of July comes early.
