Skoda fabia mk3 ac stop work at hot days Sign In

Hello,
The problem is when driving on hot summer days. It appears that the air conditioner compressor stops working and the air conditioner does not emit cold air.
When I turn the vehicle off and on, the compressor returns to operation and the air conditioner cools down again properly, but after a while it stops operating again and the exhaust air is not cold air.
Thank for your help

US based site so limited but A/C has general things you can check for those symptoms as that car isn't sold here.
* Does air flow seem lower also?
* Is it producing water dripping (condensate) when working cold also means there's some humidity.
* Look when it works for frost on lines from compressor and return parts especially under hood. It shouldn't have any.
For now I'll say it may be low on charge don't just add a thing yet, diagnose it first. Pressures at what temp (use both F. and C. please) and PSI for pressures.
If the frost thing and system shuts down if you can catch that see if it makes a large puddle under it (just water) of ice melting helps to zoom in on it.

Note for all: A/C is a trade to its own hard for DIY and harder with newer less capacity systems. There are no dipsticks rather more of an algorithm of what's noted with all observations at once. Many would simply discharge and fill to specification at least know it works with correct amount by weight ever so critical,

Tom is suggesting that the evaporator may be freezing up but since all it takes to get it working again is to turn the engine off and back on, I doubt that is the case.

I think it may be an HVAC control module may be shutting itself down. Like Tom said, we don't have this vehicle so I can't know what it's capabilities are but I would suggest looking into having it scanned with a professional scan tool capable of accessing the HVAC system to check for any stored codes HVAC that would point to the problem area.

It's not always that easy and may just work when looking testing. As Hammer said AND if this is new enough it could have codes to lead you.
Know that many "defaults" would shut a system down. Too hot in system is also too much pressure. I won't expound way too much it's a whole science of it's own.
Guess is this is an expansion valve system vs normal clutch cycling types do shut off when satisfied normally. Those (very common) had a wearing area with a gap that when too large can't pull in.
Any history of someone messing with it would help us help you just what did they do? Too many things do get sold to make this all seem like a "just fill it up" type deal is TOTALLY WRONG and can be dangerous plus very costly damage.
If unsure get help at least for the diagnosis mistakes are nasty costly,

Research shows me this was made from 2015 to present and it's a product of Volkswagon so it very likely uses a compressor control valve. It pretty much has to have codes available.

I looked up your car and noticed that is related to some VW's sold in Mexico (VW Vento, Polo and some Seats). Their A/C compressors are controlled by refrigerant valves, some mechanical, some electrical, AND some have a thermostat. If cooling is fine (when it cools), it may be the thermostat (in the evaporator). If cooling is erratic and sometimes acceptable, is the valve. Foes the compressor shut off when cooling stops or keeps working?

Thanks you all for your comment.
I was in the garage they connected the vehicle to the computer and they got an error in the air conditioner controller inside the vehicle. Could be the problem?

Not knowing what that error was, we couldn't tell you if it is a related problem.

OK, by "garage" I take it you meant a shop that repairs cars? If they don't do "air conditioning" work they might suggest where else to go. With code again find out where that leads.
Note: Not all "garages" want or can do A/C services would understand that world wide. It's costly to have equipment and products ready for many places is very seasonal, it takes up room where you or they could be doing other things year round or at least a better percentage of the year.

It's almost over where I am as a complaint folks would want solved as soon as possible or not fix it when they find out the cost is too high for later in season let it wait,
