Pag oil amount Sign In

Going to change all components on my vehicle. Compressor, Condensor and evaporator. It list total oil capacity of 4.1oz but for the individual component listed as a/c compressor preloaded with 1.4, condenser 1.0 and evaporator 3.0. which adds up to more than 4.1oz. So do I do less in evap and condenser? Thanks

Let's start with the year, make model and engine size.

OK, what I would do is drain the oil out of the new compressor and add 4 ounces and that's all. Once the compressor is installed and everything else is installed, rotate the compressor in the normal rotation direction about 10 revolutions. I never put any oil in the EVAP because it's not necessary. This is a low volume system so you don't want to overload it with oil.

Be sure to flush out all the lines during assembly.
Never, ever use a reman compressor.

I have to ask though, why are you replacing all those components on a 2014 car? Did the compressor and evaporator fail at the same time?

Yeah evaporator is leaking, the compressor started making noise a few days ago. I figured while I am there go ahead and do it all. All acdelco new parts. Car has 147K.

Sounds like a good plan.

I hope you realize that evap is 12 hours.

Yeah looking forward to that, I am not officially a mechanic but I have been working on cars for 30 years in the car business. I am in Texas, just wish I had an air condition garage to do it in.

Good luck. It's an electronic nightmare behind that dash.
