Caliper fell off after wheel bearings repacked

Hi, Yesterday mechanic repacked wheel bearings. Today I drove approx. 40 miles and the caliper fell off. First thing mechanic said was he didn't touch caliper. He said there are 4 bolts he undid 2 of them but not the 2 for caliper. I looked it up and u have to take off caliper to do wheel bearings. Now he wants me to pay to put new bolts on caliper. Help 2000 Ford Ranger
