I have a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, and the A/C has recently stopped cooling consistently. The car has about 109K miles on it. When the A/C is cooling normally, nothing unusual happens with the car. When the A/C is on but not cooling, I notice that my RPMs while idling jump up every 6 or 7 seconds before dropping back down to normal RPMs for my car while idling. Sometimes, I can turn off the cooling button on the A/C interface and then turn it back on to make the cooling kick in, but this doesn't work every time. Any thoughts on the problem with my A/C?

It's probably doing that because the compressor is cycling on and off. Have the system evacuated and recharged with the proper weighed charge and see what it does. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
