Hi all, Is there anyone who can figure out what's happening in my car? I found this oil leak during a new tire replacement. Please find the pictures on the links below 1. http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/594CvFqS/1756.jpg 2. http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/594CvFqS/1757.jpg 3. http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/594CvFqS/1758.jpg Thank you

Whenever you are looking for an oil leak you always look for the highest point that you see oil because it runs downhill. Your first picture may have the answer although there is no view above that. There is a banjo bolt there holding a line. I tend to blame that that connection but the area above it needs to be inspected to see if there is any oil above that. Either way it doesn't look like an emergency. It's a small leak. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Agree. Can you carefully clean off this oil and watch for it to return to verify just where the source is? Also, is there a fill cap above this area or a chance anything was just spilled. It doesn't take much oil to make a slight mess like that. Do watch that to see if it gets worse just because, T

Hi Hammer and Tom, Thank you for taking the time to put your reply. Sounds good to know it doesn't seem to be urgent. Tom, I will do so as you suggested Kai

You should be able to clean off that "banjo" bolt looked higher. Not sure just what that's for bet an oil for now. Once clean just glance daily or periodically if that's where it shows first. Idea of "banjo" bolts is allow a fluid to pass thru. Many would use washers - two of them sometimes copper or high tolerance material to oils, heat and take some high pressure by design. It's not a rare vehicle if that needs a thing gaskets probably come with a new bolt if YOU get there to blame it minimize more mess so you know it worked, Tom
