Intermittent #2 cylinder misfire Sign In

2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT 3.6L V6 47,000 miles

Purchased used 6 months ago, was a rental. Misfire diagnosed when having it serviced a few weeks ago, the shop simply cleared the code. Check engine light came back on after a few days (my wife drives this to work about 4 miles a day). Check engine light goes out on its own. Wife drives a few more days. Light comes back on. I purchase a basic OBD2 scanner and see a #2 cylinder misfire code. I decide to not mess around and replace the all the ignition coils and spark plugs (myself). Clear the code, drive it for 10 miles, filling with fuel, shut it on and off a number of times. While idling the next morning, light comes back on and same #2 cylinder misfire. 2 questions: Thoughts on the next step? If I clear the code and it takes a couple days for the light to come back on, am I doing damage to the engine? I put in some Lucas fuel treatment to try the easy injector cleaner route, but I have to drive the vehicle in order to clean it and I don't want to cause more harm. Any insight is much appreciated.

The question are you harming it? It's not good, I'll say that so keep at it. Easy on parts tossing clearly all you did wasn't it. If it's going to hide on you but know #2 take a look at that new plug vs another easy one they are quite new are they alike, color or anything?
Do you ever feel it run lousy or a "Putt-putt" at tail-pipe like that cylinder is doing ZERO it would feel like crap - that's harm.
A problem with parts tossing is chances are with the things you tossed were better than replacements! Did you look at those plugs for differences?
Lucas whatever? Don't expect the solution in a bottle/can it probably wont harm anything.

Next is probably move that injector to another spot and see if code picks that up and follows it,

If the light is flashing, then you are doing damage to the Cat. If it's not flashing, it's not as serious.

You should do a compression test before doing anything else to it.

Re: Intermittent #2 cylinder misfire Sign In

Update: I decided to swap the #2 and #4 injector and that didn't make a lick of difference. I only used the vehicle for short errands around our small town, and after a couple days, the check engine light went out. This, I believe, is because I went 3 start/stop cycles without the same problem happening. A couple days later, the light comes back on, same issue. Was able to have the dealership check it out, turns out they are going to replace the cylinder head due to a manufacturing issue (this appears to be a thing with these engines). Thank you for your advice. Lesson learned... have a detailed analysis done before throwing a bunch of money at a possible solution.
Cheers!!
