Fuel line to fuel pump

2015 Dodge Charger:My auxiliary fuel pump went bad so I replaced both pumps. Well the retaining clip (the top connector to the fuel) on the aux pump was messed up. Nothing local had one at I ordered, but in the mean time, my father suggested I just run a straight fuel line into it. So we did with clamps on each end. Pretty much this is the same thing. Has anyone done this, and can this be a permanent fix?

That rig isn't going to hold 60PSI of fuel pressure.
