Fuel Line Disconnect Help
|

|
I am replacing a fuel rail dampener.
This is for an 09 Pontiac Vibe.
The manual says to discharge fuel pressure and then disconnect the fuel line.
Is this the fuel line that I circled in red? Or is there another line I have to disconnect?

We can't see anything with the size of those pictures.
We can check for diagrams ourselves but you didn't post the engine size.
Also, why are you replacing the damper?

It's a 2.4 engine. I'm replacing the dampener because it's leaking.I uploaded bigger pics:

Yes, the top picture is the fuel line connection.
There are 2 types of connectors but I can't see them as there is a plastic cover over the connection that has to be removed.
Type 1
This type you just squeeze the 2 tabs. Pushing the lines together first may make it easier.
Type 2
This type requires a special, inexpensive release tool.

Thank you. I have a disconnect tool if I need it.
Do I also have to remove the air cleaner cap and hose? Or can I leave it on?

You can remove anything that is in your way but I wouldn't expect you would need to.

I can't get the disconnect tool to go all in because of this hump. And the furthest that the fuel line will come forward is right up to this the first hump. Do know any other way how I can get this off?

Have you tried pulling it apart? It looks like it's already released. That bump is the thing that catches behind the inside clips to lock it in.

Then you are going to need a different disconnect tool. They sell a lot of different ones for different situations.
Here's an example the type you are looking for.

? Just went blind searching this out. What I see in YOUR pic that should pull out.
Now: How is the pressure regulator/damper if you wish UNDER IT? Just feel if a hex or elbow- I'm finding more types used than is funny.
Right now that line now exposed should move towards air intake. As the for item leaking I couldn't get a conclusive one only item OMG $10 or less to almost $200. Something is messed up with instructions it should have a 2 cent rubber "O" ring to leak or diaphragm to leak??
Careful not to bust things or bend line. IDK how your info gave you exact directions?

well I finally got the line disconnected and replaced the damper.No leaks so far. Thanks for your help Hammer.
