replaced the headlight bulbs, now one shines higher than the other. did not move the aiming wheels at all. what did i do wrong?

OK, where you replacing them to be brighter but they worked before knew "aim" was correct? You said that it was.
Try this: Get the real aim (I use a shop door first) or what works. Now swap the two bulbs see if still wrong or problem swapped?
If tough to do these (some are a b*tch) you may not be in the back of housing properly - I just did that with one so nasty couldn't see it without mirrors and it was wrong fixed right away was just that,
