It has started to have a loud knock. Took it to mechanic and was told it had a bad timing belt. I just always thought that the timing belt didn't have oil in contact with it. My question is if anybody knows more about this than me does what the mechanic said make sense? The timing belt will cause a lot of engine damage but not really anything that would cause severe oil consumption. Make sure your PCV system is working properly.
