Engine sputters when accelerating

I have a 2004 Honda Civic (185,000 miles) that started sputtering when making quick accelerations at higher speeds a week or so ago. If I step on the gas pedal with force at 60 or 70 mph, the engine will sputter. Normal acceleration is not a problem. If I accelerate slowly, the engine is fine at high speeds. The issue arises when I accelerate quickly at 60 or 70 mph. I had the spark plugs replaced in late April, so this shouldn't be a problem. There's a small hole in my catalytic converter (first identified in late April). Based on this description of the symptoms, can anyone pinpoint some possible causes of this issue? I'd appreciate any responses, thanks.

It turns out this was caused by a leaking oil filter, thanks for the reply.

a leaking oil filter?, lol maybe was leaking on the knock sensor or crank shaft position sensor connector.....but then again I have had cars with really oily connectors, and it never caused a misfire , though i correct it when I find it. he should have had his plug wires changed out also unless coil on plug. my Neice, who is a very lovely person, takes her car in and they will say for example spark plug number 4 is bad so she just gets that one plug replaced. . she has a CVT transmission and I kept telling her are you following Nissan's maintenance schedule. It has it's own filter that needs replacing along with the correct type of CVT transmission fluid.......guess who had to get a new transmission last year...oh well i have digressed a bit.
