Honda CRV knock sensor

So far I have most of the issues resolved for my used car.
Question:
The car's engine light is off but code reader is giving me knock sensor problem.
How important is the knock sensor for Honda CRV?

It wouldn't matter much if you only burned premium fuel in it.
Low octane fuel causes detonation (pinging). The knock sensor sees that and retards the timing to stop it. Letting it continue can cause severe engine damage and burn a hole right through the piston. Premium fuel would probably prevent that but would end up costing more than repairing the knock sensor.

Larry - fix that as Hammer said! There are ongoing, live conditions that can make it knock. Perhaps hard to hear it but like he said it will make a hole in pistons - game over.
Fuel quality is questionable IMO, premium is barely able if even true 91 or 93 still aren't really high octane as engines are not such high compression was the reason.
OMG cost of it outrageous via an additive greatly needed for other uses diesel in particular - the fuel that delivers everything, even the gasoline.
Octane is a rating not the true quality IMO is low and unknown left up to the vehicles to adjust, yours can't, it's warning you so get on this, it matters a lot, T
