2007 civic 1.8 2 codes
|
|
|
130,000 miles on it , All warmed up and getting on the highway , had some hesitation , CEL came on and drove fine to run errands , Codes are PO523 and P2647 pending and confirmed on both . Any thoughts on this , it's cause and how long would I have to stand out in the cold to fix it ? Thanks .

Both of those codes appear to be related to oil pressure. The P0523 is a bad signal from the oil pressure sensor and the P2647 is referring to an actuator not working properly that depends on oil pressure. The first thing I would do is test the oil pressure manually and if it tests good, replace the sensor and then clear the codes and see if anything comes back. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Hey doc. Where are my donuts? It's cold out the type of oil is going to matter AND when last changed. Was 8F (MA) - no records, colder where you are a lot. FYI oil loses it (don't we all) so just change it IMO despite sponsor here now Google go Mobil 1 rated for the thing. Great cars, last well this zero crap + the wind OMG over 70 MPH or worse is raising hell all over the US, Tom

At my age it's mostly bran muffins , but I wouldn't turn one down . We bought the car 6 months ago and don't drive a lot . I seem to recall the seller saying something about 5W-30 instead of 5W-20 for motors with more milage . I cleared the codes and will take a spin and see what pops up , I'll be out there mon. tues. checking things out doing oil changes , thanks .

You have an electronic problem you need to resolve first. Oh yes it can it's F*KUCK cold. Any old oil isn't was it was for long. Let it go I don't see why putting correct oil in it for temps of where he is, is a problem. We don't have coconuts falling on our heads nor do most folks! Tom

The car has an electronic problem with the oil pressure sensor and that needs to be resolved before worrying about oil condition.

I have an enormous sense, for common sense. It's been -70F below zero was below zero where Doc is with hurricane winds cars, machines don't behave. Do you wear a condom on your code readers? Someone is going to put it where the sun don't shine on many. It's flipping cold, early, stuff happens! T

I have an 03 civic and a ranger that need fresh oil , I could take the 07 for a joy ride or just normal use and see what happens . If that code comes back up I'll check the oil PSI , I imagine at some point it will and it's priority statis will change . Any numbers to look for at idle once a gauge is hooked up ?

It should remain above 10PSI at idle and higher if you bring the RPMs up. I think it puts the warning light on at around 3 PSI. I really think it's going to be an electrical problem with the sensor, not an oil pressure problem but that has to be verified. to be sure. It won't hurt to change the oil. It just won't solve your pressure problems unless it just doesn't have any oil.

I went to honda and got an oil pressure sensor switch , Then I went to a garage and told them I didn't want to install it and they got it in today (thrs ) They called me and said it was the wrong one napa has correct one for the problem and comes with the " actuator " switch for not much more , they couldn't clear the actuator code until that was taken care of . I said do what you have to do , it should be done fri. afternoon . I guess the part I got was one of 2 oil pressure switches , not sure . Don't like not being able to do the work myself but that's life . FYI

It appears it does have 2 sensors. One on the front of the engine (Oil pressure sender) One on the back of the engine called an EOP sensor. Let us know how it turns out.

I picked up the car , they replaced Variable valve timing solenoid , variable valve timing oil control and the sensor I supplied for a good price , I think . They must have disconnected the battery because the radio's looking for a code , there's a 12 digit number written by hand in the owners manual on the " radio " page . I guess that's it .

No, it should be 4 digits. What you are seeing may be the serial number of the radio which you would need to get the code if you don't have it. There's usually a card slipped into the owners manual if they didn't move it.

There are web sites that will get you the code for a fee if you supply the serial number of the radio. Type 1 Honda ( For all 2001 and up vehicles ) Turn the vehicle's key to the "on" position. Press the preset buttons 1 and 6 at the same time. Turn on the radio. A 10 digit serial number will appear on the radio display, (if stereo was locked up at the time). There will be 10 characters in the radio serial #. A U followed by 4 numbers and an L. followed by 4 numbers. Example, your display will indicate, U5123 L1235. Or will indicate all 8 numbers at one time. Example: 12345678. Please document this number, as you will need this number for the form below. https://www.radio-code.com/...-code-NEW-proced.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

There's a honda site that gives you your code if you have the serial number and VIN , plus phone number and address , got the radio working and all is good for now . Thanks .

Great! Happy New Year not surprised if you give them that info they could know it's really you if you own it or legal lease of some sort. IDK if you can lease a car that old - maybe?? T
