Ok, so the issues never end with this thing! Lol. I've got a 2004 Ford F150 with the 5.4 Triton engine in it, and I recently pulled the codes. The only code stored is a P0021, and it isn't the first time I have seen this code. Bank 2 camshaft timing too far advanced. I've done a little bit of research, and I have a couple of the symptoms according to some of the websites I have read. It generally has a hard start if you try to start the engine within one hour of shutting it off (which may not be related to this issue, I really don't know), and the idle is somewhat on the rough side. Lately, the engine has sometimes bogged down under acceleration and when I press on the accelerator, it'll sometimes have a low rumbling noise until I put it at at least half throttle and then it'll jump up to 2,500+ rpm. Oh, and it also has a chatter/rattle upon startup that lasts at least 2 seconds upon cold startup. So it could very well be that the timing is a little bit off. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Sounds like the timing chain has jumped on that bank. The rattle on startup is typical loose timing chain. You could try changing the hydraulic tensioner first. They are external on that engine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
