2002 hyundai santa fe gas smell Sign In

My 2002 santa fe has a strong gas smell on the outside driver's side after driving around for a while. Have checked the fuel lines, tank, motor for leaks but found none. Changed the fuel pump thinking that might be the problem but still emits gas smell. Recently did a diagnostic and got the following codes: P0100, P1166, P0134, P0500. Could any of these be the cause? How do I correct these codes? Will be taking it into the shop soon, but would like to know what type of trouble, budget I'm looking at here. Thanks for your valuable help!!

Which engine?

Do you mean raw gas smell?

Two of those codes have to do with O2 sensor B1S1 being inactive for some reason. Going to need a scanner or scope to watch the O2 sensor waveform or voltage to see what is going on with it.

Does the speedometer work? Your also going to need a scan tool to watch the vehicle speed PID for the P0500 code. The ECM uses the digital signal from the VSS to calculate vehicle speed. If you don't have a signal coming out of the VSS, you could have a mechanical problem with the driven part of the sensor or an electrical problem such as missing power or ground to the sensor or signal circuit problem to the ECM.

There is no such code as P0100 for that truck.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
