Engine will start but will NOT accelerate at all. Found animal eaten through a wire/cable (2009 Toyota Highlander) Sign In

Hi. My mother's 2009 Toyota Highlander has had the engine light on for the last 2 months. It was driving okay, I thought it may have been a gas cap sensor or low oil that needed changing. We took it to drive today and it will roll in 1k RPM but will not accelerate at all. We tried turning it off and on again, made sure any parking/e-brake is not initiated.

Then, I opened the hood to find this: https://imgur.com/a/GpUX9pX

The label/barcode is completely faded with nothing to gather from it. This was located in the top/upper left area of the engine, but it could have moved around.

Anyone who may know where this may be from in the car would be great. Along with the engine light there is also a traction control light that has been stuck on (tried to reset it). Thank's, yall!

How would we know what that wiring is for?

So, let me understand this. You have been ignoring important warning lights for months. Now you want us to tell you why the car won't drive by looking at a piece of wire.

Tow it to the dealer. They are the only ones that can help you.

Well I stated it came from the lower left region of the engine bay. I do not know what functioning parts of the car are in that area. Someone may recognize that specific attachment type as well, which would further pinpoint what specifically this might be. It seems it's not yourself, though. We don't have the money to fix it ourselves, I told her to check with insurance but it takes her weeks to act on anything. Thanks anyway.

Nobody is going to recognize a piece of wire from a specific vehicle.

The only thing you could do to give you a clue is read the stored codes.

If you've got an eaten thru wiring cable hope you can find other ends wires should be unique color w or without stripes. You or with help put them back if clearly an area.

Critters can ruin a car or who knows want engine for stable heat also usually leave if you drive off or hear you coming?
