EFI fuse keeps blowing, please help me Sign In

Hi! I did a dumb thing and tried to jump start my car with 24 volts instead of 12, unintentionally. I am pretty clueless about about the electrical system of cars, but I know its bad and I am worried.

I have removed the battery (for about 24 hours) and put another one in. I have checked all the fuses, the only blown one was the EFI fuse.

Now every time I turn the key to ignition, the EFI fuse blows. Have I broken something that the fuse is supposed to protect causing a short or something? o2 sensors or fuel pump maybe? Any ideas?

This is a 1994 Lexus LS400 with about 140k miles.

Yep, sounds like you may have melted some wires or components together somewhere. I'll be very surprised if you didn't fry at least a few computer modules too. Your best bet now is to get it into a competent auto electric shop for diagnosis.

Thank you for the quick response! And excuse me if this is a stupid question. But when I remove the EFI relay, and turn the key, the fuse doesn't blow. Does that tell you anything?

I don't know how they are connected relative to each other, which is why I'm asking.

Nothing I didn't already know.
The EFI is the main operating system so the short could be anywhere. It also doesn't mean you don't have other electrical issues in other areas once this one gets resolved.

There's noting I can add I don't mess much with 24V devices or I think (not 100% sure) the big rig trucks may use it.
OP, it doubled the voltage thru what was empowered so as Hammer says, and I do agree that's enough to burn wire insulation alone never mind what else?
Good luck that it didn't royally mess a lot of things up? Unknown till just that is fixed.
BTW, however you came across 24V don't do that of course. Use jumper boxes and absolutely know you are hooking up properly even then,
