2003 Ford Escape Headlights not working Sign In

Helping a friend out. She has a 2003 Ford Escape. The left headlight doesn't work at all. She thought the bulb was out. Had the guy at O'reilly put a new bulb in, and it worked for 3 seconds then went out again. (It's one bulb for high and lowbeams.)

After they swapped in the new bulb, the RIGHT headlight also now doesn't have lowbeams, but it has brights. It's only one bulb. Figured it had to be something electrical.

Is there something easy to check?

Does this car have Daytime running lights?

This is a rather complex circuit with DRLs. There are individual fuses and a relay to power both lights. The switching is all done on the ground side of the circuit and involves another relay and a DRL module to operate it.

I would start out testing the fuses with a test light.
Fuses 12, 13 and 15 powered all the time
Fuses 2 and 3 only power when light switch is on.
Fuse 16 powered with key on only

Beyond that you will need someone with extensive electrical knowledge to follow a wiring diagram to do the testing.

Thanks. Will get with her and look into testing those. :)
