rear speakers in GM cars

In our family we have a 2001 pontiac grand prix, buick century 1997 and another 2003 grand prix. The rear speakers in all cars work intermittently every now and again. We are thinking it could be the speakers. Most of the time they don't work then all of a sudden they go on. Happens in all 3 cars. Has anyone heard of a problem with these speakers or wires and any help would be appreciated.

I have the exact same problem in my 2000 Chevy Blazer. Would love to know where to start looking for the problem.

To have the problem in all 3 cars is pretty weird. You have to work back from the problem I am thinking. 1. When stereo is on, put your FADER to the back speakers (if you have a fader) Can you hear anything? Buzzing? next is to take grill off the speakers if you can and put your finger gently on the speaker. Any vibration? 2. Climb in the trunk and have a look at the wiring connections. Sometimes with factory speakers the connections for the speakers slip off with time. Check that both connectors are plugged firmly into the speakers.] I hope we can solve this.

I have the same issue with my 2004 Envoy XUV. The rear speakers might come on when it gets warmer though. Sometimes the left, sometimes the right. Has to be over 70 though. Sounds like a common complaint! Anybody out there figure out what causes this?
