Dash light in car radio

I have a 99 Ford Explorer with a AM/FM stereo with Single Disc CD player that works great except the light showing the time or station does not work. I can't figure out how to get to it (I pulled it from the dash) to see if it is a wire bulb or LED light. Any suggestions?

It's an LCD display and they go bad. It's not really worthwhile to try to repair it. Replacing it with an aftermarket radio would be the most efficient way to resolve it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

not really knowing exactly which radio you have, it's a good possibility you may have bad solder connections on the switch board.

is the radio cd and radio only or cd and tape deck. also, is the radio din sized or din and a half????????? if it is cd only and din and a half, the switch board is the face board where all the switches are. there are usually a couple surface mount resistors that develope bad solder connections.
