96 accord clicking noise Sign In

I have a 1996 5 speed accord. I have replaced all suspension components (control arms, ball joints, etc), axles, brakes (rotors, pads), and hub/bearing on both sides, and I have a obnoxious clicking noise, which starts slow and speeds up as you accelerate, coming from the front passenger side. Have taken it apart twice and back together to look for any issue, and maybe hope that putting it together would change sometning, but no luck. Any ideas on what it could be?

Side note: my steering rack went out, and I changed everything that was there because it all has (as far as I can account for, bought it used) 200K+ miles, and was already in the area while changing the steering rack, so there was no prior issue with anything there

If the noise increases with the rotation of the wheel, then the problem has to be in the wheel area somewhere. You can have pads rattling, the wheel contacting something or something caught in the rotor.

Hmmm? It's already survived the parts cannon so I'd try putting that wheel on another spot if only for a test. If noise follows the wheel, somehow it's the wheel or tire?

Sounds good. I’ll be out there in a couple hours and will update if I find anything new

Other? I forgot some might have hubcaps. Many were broken with that wire ring type if you have those? T

Re: 96 accord clicking noise Sign In

Got out there, took tire off, inspected, all seems fine and noise is gone (for now at least). But I am now noticing an issue with it not wanting to start; starter has been fine, and when I jump it it starts right up, but I can run it for half an hour and once I turn it off it refuses to start up again unless I jump it. Maybe some sort of draw? I’m not sure. And the speedometer will randomly turn off and back when while driving, I don’t think it’s that bad, but idk if it could mean it’s sometning bad

Also to add, since I have the starting issue and am not sure if it could be related. This whole mess started with my steering rack going out, so I replaced what looked like it would need to go well I was at it. But, for me to take out the steering rack, I had to take off most of my intake, and idk if there’s sometning in that area that I could have done wrong when putting it back together that could be causing a draw in it or something.

If you want to talk about the starting issue, please start a new thread for that.

A wild guess is the plate on the back of the rotor. Pushing it away from the rotor fixes the clicking noise.
