I'm new to the forum and I have a couple questions about a brake job. I'll separate the two questions, according to the forum rules.
A friend of mine needed some cash so I hired him to change my brakes. When I picked up my car, I noticed he took a sanding disk to my rotors. The job is isn't uniform like I've seen before and is pretty ugly. Some of the scratches look pretty deep. I'm including pics, you may have to zoom in.
He doesn't have the cash to replace my rotors, so I'll have to just eat it if they need to be replaced.
Here are my questions: Do they need to be replaced or with the scratches smooth out over time? If they do smooth out, will it cause more wear on my new brake pads or shorten their life? I've asked around on another forum but got mixed opinions so I thought I'd try here. Thanks in advance.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should , You got what you paid for , Stay off the mountain roads

It was a pretty stupid thing to do but it won't harm anything.

It is common to put a cross hatch pattern on a finished rotor to cancel out the grooves from resurfacing and eliminate some noises but it's not necessary in most cases.

I have done it using a 2" circular disc on an air tool but the rotor has to be spinning at the time to make it uniform.

It's ugly for sure but I guess I can live with it if it's not dangerous. Now I'm concerned how the rotors seem to be wearing on the outside only. Is this normal at first? It's been a couple weeks since the brake job and it's on all four wheels. I understand a stuck caliper pin can cause uneven wear but it seems unlikely that all four rotors have this in the same spot.

You should probably change your terminology on what was done. This was not a brake job. It was a pad slap which is definitely far from a real brake job. The rotors should have been either resurfaced or replaced. These days it is easier and better to replace. The cost ends up being about the same and you don't end up with a rotor that is thinner than it should be. Once it has lost thickness it loses a lot of it's ability to dissipate heat and will warp easily.
All the slides should have been cleaned and lubed and clips and hardware replaced.

It is normal for the rotor to show uneven wear. That's the reason for replacement. Now you have installed a pad with a flat surface onto a rotor that does not have a flat surface and have lost a lot of braking power. The pads wild end up wearing to the contour of the rotor so when you finally get around to replacing the problem rotors, the pads will have to be replaced again also, basically a redo of the whole brake job that wasn't done right the first time.
