STUCK DOOR 2003 Nissan Altima Sign In

so the inside door handle, outside door handle and power lock does nothing. the power lock makes a buzzing noise. Can not take off the inside cover as part of the cover is in the front door pillar and on the other side sill. this is the left back door. i can get to the hinges by opening the front door, but the top hinge looks riveted.

Yep, that is a big problem.

Your only hope is to lower the window and use some sort of long reach tool to go down through the window opening and manually release the door latch or unlock it if that is the real issue.

If you can't get it done that way you are pretty much screwed and will have to damage the door panel to get it out of the way to access the latch.

Re: STUCK DOOR 2003 Nissan Altima Sign In

Thanks HT what i did was i took off the other side inside door cover off to see just where the lock is I may even remove the good lock to see how it works. I squirted a lot of penetrating oil in the direction of the bad lock from the top and banged on both sides of the door with a mallet. no luck ...what other issues could it be ?
i may cut away the door about 5 inches around the door handle then if i fix it can weld it back ….or get a new door. i am thinking that the lock has internally malfunctioned or is broken. on the inside the lock is hidden by the back 1/4 panel sill.

NO, don't damage the door. You have to access the latch from the inside. Rip up the door panel if you have to. You can always get another one.

Already said it's a real nightmare. YES - end game is or could be rip the panel off and find another or fix it if possible. Latches are from gap side to undo for new if needed you are still stuck. Looking at other side is the best - each make or model see what to grab or bust.
The prevention isn't ever done but spray back sides of this stuff with an electrical friendly lube like Silicone just keep in mind many use latches for info for lights or more so don't wreck that. OMG who's going to do that every couple years?
