I replaced a power steering pump in my '93 Dutchmen motor home--its on a Chev chassis with a 454. The brakes and the steering both work off the pump. (To my surprise). Now it foams up in the reservior and whines bad when I turn the wheel or step on the brakes. I bled it by turning the wheel back and forth when I installed it, but it acts like it has air in it. Is there a trick to bleeding these, or am I missing a step in the installation or something? How do you bleed them, if that's the problem?

Try turning the wheel all the way to the left and turn off the engine and lock the wheel until all the bubbles stop. Then start it and move it back and forth a few times and lock the steering all the way to the right. When the foaming bubbles quit, repeat until all the air is gone. Good luck.
