1992 f150 fuel pump/ regulator question Can't Post

1992 F150 8 XLT
The switch on the dash switches between the two fuel tanks. ( the gauge changes to match the tank level)
If the switch is set on the front or rear tank it draws from the rear tank.
I was told that thre is a 5 prong electrical regulator that chooses between the tanks.
I bought the 1 inch square regulator but I can't find where it goes.
Just before the problem it was pulling from both tanks.
I am aware if this doesn't solve the problem I will most likely have to replace the pump in the front tank.
