I had an oil change on my 2001 odysey, they overfilled it, it was 1/4 - 3/8 of an inch above the full mark. I found a large spot of oil on ground one morning, but none the next.Took it back to dealer, who did oil change and they said it had a crack in the oil pan and the catalytic converter is bad. Is the over filling likely to create a problem, including but not limited to these two symptoms?

Trouble is........we don't know how overfilled it was?? You said you found it at 1/4 to 3/8" but what does that mean? It could have spit out the overfill to that level.

THIS IS PROBABLY NOT GOOD!

There could be a variety of problems from an overfill. It might have waited till you went up or down a hill or hit the brakes with expected sloshing of oil. The first problem is the crankshaft would be totally splashing in oil which could cause all kinds of trouble up to and including blowing up the engine.

Why didn't they comment on the cracked pan when the did the service? This will end up being difficult to proove. Not quite sure where the converter fits into this.

Did they agree it was too full? And again if it was too full with a big leak --Why?
