ok i got a 73 maverick. 302 bored and stroked to a 340. flat top forged pistons. comp cam 280 magnum cam 512int 512 exh 230 dur at 0.50. 351 winsor heads with chev 1.90 1.64 valves. about 9.7-1 compression. torker II intake manifold. heads have been shaved .060 to raise the compression. here is the problem. number 3 and 4 (thats the back 2 pass side) header tubes glow bright orange after a few mins. moter seams to run strong. i have checked compression its right on the money on all 8. they all hold compression good. have triple checked the valve adjustment. no intake leaks and carb seems good. i am totaly dumb founded.

have you chaanged the headers ?on my 289 hipo the front pass did the same thing when i changed the headers it stoped

hmm that has been somthing ive thought about. but im not thinking its the problem.
