Hybrids are coming out in many forms everyday. You can get some like the Prius that are amazing on gas mileage and some that have better performance like the Honda Accord and Lexus RX400H.

There are these different types
nano hybrids you all drive =battery electric starter only
micro hybrids=battery start auto stop like GM Silverado GMC Sierra
mild hybrids=battery electric assist and auto stop/start like Honda Insigh,civic,accord
full hybrids=battery electric running at low speed, assists, auto start stop
plugin hybrid=battery electric with bigger battery, coming as after market option in 2006

The US hit peak oil in 1971 and we have been importing more ever since. We now import over 60%.
We won't have any personal vehicles unless we do something about this. Our country is falling deeper into foreign debt from oil. Our big inefficient vehicles have to become better not just bigger and more powerful.

I drive a 2003 Honda civic hybrid with a CVT transmission. The EPA rates it 49/48 and I get 60+ most of the time drivin smart. I have not had 1 single problem with the car. Pretty good when it was a first year for this model civic.

Does anyone else have hybrid info ?

GOD help us we are using too much imported oil. I'm a born American and will still say we are crazy to not be attacking this everywhere we can. Hybrids will help but we need to get real aggressive about all this.

It may take a few types of alternates to suit everyone. Why do we seem to be waiting??

Let's get going folks. We have had our warnings and we are too smart of a country NOT to figure this out. Arggh! T
