Hybrid and Hydrogen cars? Can't Post

Does anyone own a hybrid car? I wanted to ask how you like the way it handles? It looks like the middle east wants to rush use into newer cleaner energy sources and I think that hybrids will help lead the way.

I really believe that a hydrogen engine will become the standard once someone discovers a way to convert our current gas tanks into a water tank that will work very much the same as our gasoline engines except we would need some type of system the would create the hydrogen right before the engine would need to fire. This would limit the "risk" that big oil says are involved with the hydrogen engine.

I really feel the only big risk with hydrogen is that there won't be a need for big oil at all.... since the ideal way would be you could fill up right after you water your garden.....

We had TWO warnings in the 70s about the use of fossile fuels. Neither got much attention. At the moment we can be proud that we let 30 some odd years go by without proper research. It takes as much energy to extract hydrogen from water as the energy to move a vehicle and then some. We all need to work on that.

Alternative fuel/power WILL be the way of the future without doubt. Best,

It was funny yesterday after I posted this message I look at the top banner (googel adsense) and there was a link to a site that sold plans to "run your car on water" and the idea was what i picture it. A fuel cell inside a tank filled with water.

Then we could use gas to start the car somewhat like a hybrid car then attach some sort of electric generators to the two back wheels so that the car moving would actually extract the hydrogen from the water.

Who knows. lol Just throwing out some ideas.

I think it might even be a cool project to take an old antique car and convert it into a hydrogen/solar power car. Just to have some fun.

Maybe if we could get a few corporate sponsors to help fund the project it would be a nice clean project.

The real trouble here is "there's no free lunch". It takes more energy to extract hydrogen than the hydrogen can produce. It's kind of like putting a windmill on your car to make electricity. The drag on the car is worse than the energy produced. So far, the energy still has to come from some source, lets hope for some magic out there, but so far I know of none,

The "Clean" part is about done even with fossil fuels. The hard part is that the infrastrucure is in place to use gasoline and deisel, and not for others. The hybrids will be popular but may not fly yet. Biggest problem as I see it is we use too damn much fuel and don't make what we need!! Hydogen can be made from water. Trouble right now is as said it takes more energy to get it out of water than it can produce. It's also wicked explosive and that needs to be addressed. Remember the "Hindenburg"? A silly BB gun could bring something like that down. Let's use the education we have invested so heavily in to solve this.

For right now - use as little fossile fuel as you can. Most of us can cut back some, Be well, T

Tom,

We feel the truth is that other means are possiable.... Hydogen may or may not be the answer... The main problem is If you give me a barrow of oil... its plain old oil... really worthless not refined think about that. So I can't make gas. BIG Oil makes gas... along with big profits and big tax dollars for the gov.

You give me a Hydrogen Car..... and I can make hydrogen in my back yard.....
NO TAX MONEY.... No BIG OIL ..... Thats why we are still on oil and at war....

Yes it may be expensive to create hydrogen, but they sell units that use natral gas to create hydrogen.... Which I"m going to assume they also have electrical units available... Which means you invest, in the hydrogen unit + solar panels for your backyard... and you have a personnal filling station, which you could sell to your friends and family..... once your full you resell the electric into the grid and pay down the solar panels and the hydrogen unit.

I'd pay a driving tax to use hydrogen. This way the gov would still get their money, to waste on the dumb things they like to waste it on. But in the end we would all win. If not, these hurricanes will increase in power and pound the southern coast for years.... Hurricanes Love heat, and CO2 helps trap in the heat. So in my thinking, we are very smart creatures with where dumb ideas.

We give value to a piece of paper.... Which feuls the Gas and oil greed...

Honestly.... Hydrogen is clean, but who knows if buring it, will eventually disrupt the layers of air we breathe... Hybrids, and electric cars seem to be the way to go... wheels spinning recharging in addition to little wind powered fans in the front that will spin with increased speeds.... and batteries that hold charges for months.

We need the Sun to live, it provides free power we might as well depend on it for energy needs as well, since when it goes out, we are shortly going to follow.....

just wanted to make a point that co and co2 emissions from the production of hydrogen from fossil fuels would be stored underground like nuclear waste. seein thats where most of our hydrogen comes from. but if you make an electrolizer all your doing is producing hho and burning it and producing h2o minuse the harmful byproducts produced in a factory. a solution for both problems.
