Please help!!! I hit a deer with my van last night. The insurance company is saying that I don't have coverage to cover a rental car. How do I know this for sure? In my policy book it says under TRANSPORTATION EXPENSE COVERAGE "If you pay the premium for Comprehensive Coverage for this policy we will repay you up to the greater of....." and it lists 2 options. On my policy it has listed, Coverage - Comprehensive, Limits of Liability - $1,000 deductible and Premiums - $96.00. Is rental car covered or not?

Check with your agent. This is no doubt a state-by-state line item. In MA it has a line for "Substitute Transportation" within the Collision and Comprehensive area with your choice of deductibles for those.

If you have decided on a repair shop ask them also about loaner cars while yours is being fixed - some might do that outside of your insurance at low or no cost.

Hope you didn't get hurt,
