Transmission / Gears Can't Post

Ok, here we go - every time I switch gears, like park to drive, or drive to reverse, my car won't move as I press on the gas. Then, it will bolt forwards/backwards suddenly. I'm figuring this is my transmission, but I have two questions:

How long can I wait to repair this?

And, How fast/far can I drive with this problem?

Thanks!

Re: Transmission / Gears [In reply to] Can't Post

If trans fluid is full then somehow (front pump) isn't building up enough pressure to engage and that could fail now or later - no telling how long that will last,
