Ayup! I remember those. They would jam up right under the master cylinder too. Instead of thread lock you can either buy a nut that will have dimples in the outer hex that won't undo or just get the correct hardware store nut and hit it with a hammer till it's just slightly oval and it will stick. Those were screwing up when they weren't that old and sometimes just the weight of the linkage would jam you such that you could select another gear until you got out and pulled up on the linkage. I think my last few of those I put a spring on the linkage to counter the weight so it wouldn't fall by itself,
