I'm not sure if thats what happened. I think my kid didn't press on break pedal while switching from parking to drive. After that the car started to behave really strange. Shifting isn't smooth anymore, engine seems to be noisy. How bad that is? What to do?

Mid to late nineties Hyundai transmissions were pretty bad. If it's in an Accent (Accident) it was REALLY bad. If the TCM detects a problem, it will generally operate the trans in 3rd gear only. Have it checked out.
