Dodge ram issue Can't Post

I have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 2 wheel drive truck, This winter I experienced a squeel when in reverse, as the weather warmed the squeel went away. I recently am experiencing a shutter, almost a stall on takeoff and a returning shutter or shake when at a constant speed around 45 to 50 mph and again when slowing right before a stop. When given gas or lifting off the gas the problem goes away. I have checked fuel system and engine tune up possibilities with no luck. I have been told that it sounds like a torque converter going bad? Does anyone have any response or idea of what may be the problem?
