92 Mercury topaz auto trans, 2.3 Liter ( I think) 4 cyl inline.

Shifter located between seats. Difficult to move. Can go from park to reverse, neutral, drive, but not back to park.

Also, Now it seems its out of wack. No longer is in park, when shifter says its in park.

Any ideas?

problem with cable under console is my best guess. could also be a problem with the bushings where the cable hooks to the tranny.
