1995 Eagle Summit Help Can't Post

hi, Ok I have a 1995 Eagle Summit with a transmission that will not shift. Just before it stopped shifting it had a few electrical problems (wire for interior light melted, gauges stopped working, and rear lights stopped working) I fixed all of that, but the transmission still does not shift. It recently failed Echeck for excessive NO emissions, (which the guy said was because there is too much heat inside the engine). I drained the transmission fluid and took the pan off and there were like no metal shavings stuck to the magnets, and the inside looked like brand new. I can see that the wires that come from the transmission go inside the car behind the dashboard, should i take it apart and see if something is short circuited. Or is there a way i could check to see if the transmission is getting any power at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
