Ok: That's a whole new Sanden compressor for only double the cost of the clutch alone. I own a 97 5.7 chev truck and it has the orig still with a plastic plug covering the threads - front center of the clutch. Mine if same as yours does not have a nut on the stud but I could see a "key" so that would come out with a puller that threads into to threads on the inside of the large hole and push on the 3/8th looking stud - you should put a nut on it so you dont damage the threads and would need a nut to install the clutch again. I've never had one off because the origs are so lousy I toss the whole thing but if you really want to do just the clutch and or just the bearing probably you sure can and then you don't have to mess with removing refrigerant and the vac and charge hassles - your call. When the original screws up it will take out tons of expensive stuff with it if you don't catch it with the first noises. You just made me go out an pull off that plug to look at my own! What was/is wrong with the clutch you have now? Probably just a bearing - like $20 bucks! Whatever you do make sure the clutch air gap is right when you are finished. If it doesn't engage now it might be too much clearance for it to pull in. Just tap on it and if that get it going and A/C works fine then let's adjust it. It will still take a puller tool. Here to help as I can, T Note: Part # and price are from a site I work at and have no vested interest in what you do. If you want to buy something it's ACsource.com and or just let me know.....
