Can anyone help me, I was driving my 1994 mitshubishi eclipse, when it over heated, as soon as I went to pull off the road it shut off, I filled it back with antifreeze and now it will not start up again, I checked out to make sure that it is getting spark to the plugs, which it is now when I crank it over it builds up pressure in the radiator as soon as I start it up, can anyone give me any ideas on what maybe going on? or is my car dead or atleast the engine any way? Alright - it overheated and you filled up the anti-freeze again and it won't start ?? then you say it pressures right up at the radiator when you start it. Can you clarify that please?

Arggh! This is what I think - it can pressure the cooling system from just cranking there is wild leak from compression - the gasses thereof thru headgasket no doubt. To test in reverse, pressure test cooling system and you'll find a cylinder full of coolant - sometimes a leak may not leak both directions but this one should. Leave spark plugs out as cranking with cylinder full after pressure check will cause hydraulic lock and could cause more damage.

Certainly test to be as sure as possible before tearing it down. It could be fractured metal too and not just gasketing,
