I'm tryingto change the water pump in my caravan. I can see it clearly. When I try to take off the timing to get to it, I'm stopped by the crankshaft pulley. I've tried and broke serveral tools trying to take the big center bolt off of this pulley. In the book it shows the bolt coming right off. I've even tried and impact wrench at 130 psi. I kno most guns need more. Am I doing something wrong? This one lil thing is th only thing stopping me from changing my timing and water pump.

I have ran into same problems with bolts.....There is a way I have delt with them before, using a breaker bar/ wd-40 / and a propane torch....the other way is paying a guy with a 500 psi air compressor mounted on his truck in which it would my last resort. Using the tourch, set to one inch of flame, heat the bolt up about 20 seconds and stop turn off tourch, then spray the wd40 on it, becareful...avoid the fumes as it will smoke, when it cools use the breaker bar/w socket repeat about three times, the bolt should break loose....becareful when heating the bolt up...cause if you let it heat up more time than I suggested you risk damage to the seal/bearing, I don't normally advise anyone using this type of method cause of the risk of fire due to oil leaks and other fluids. If you go this route be extra careful

Im thinking I have to use a higher psi compressor. The book refers to a chain wrench. Dont really see how it would help much if the bolt isnt budging anyway?

The chain wrench is to keep the pulley from turning, I see your point, I have seen these bolts with lock-tite on them.....not to be discouraging but I had to take one out of a honda civic and the psi was set at 230 before it broke looseCrazy,....most places that do road calls have these heavy duty compressors mounted on the trucks....and some times if you can catch one of these guys, they would come by after working hours and brake them loose for a small fee.
