I have a 99 alero and for a while now it will turn over, but it usually wont stay running unless i feather the gas and once it do it enough, it seems to hook up or whatever and it stays running. i've had problems that i would be driving for 5 min then come to a light and brake and it would just stall.. so sometimes i have to drive it with 2 feet one keeping the rpms past 1000 and the other used to brake. it usually starts NORMAL when its cold but when its warm i have to feather the gas like i said above. i bought it like 2 years ago and when i bought it the dealer put in a new fuel pump so i dont know. help is appreciated.. thanks
I would start with getting the Fuel Pressure checked with a Fuel Pressure Gauge. Sounds like your describing a Fuel Pump fault. Fuel pressure should be between 41-47 PSI
Any check engine light coming on? Have computer checked for trouble codes as well.
My one friend tried that and he said the fuel pressure was reading good. I've tired a new MAF sensor and a MAP sensor and neither were the problem. The light is on because the 02 sensor is (bad) I guess because I currently dont have a cat converter, which was removed because we thought that would be the problem. I just have a straight pipe so its not even connected.
What was the fuel pressure reading? Put the converter and o2 sensor back on now as that wasn't the trouble and confuses the situation now if not even plugged in.........
