2000 Chevy Express 4.3 oil pan gasket Can't Post

How hard is it to change the oil pan gasket on 2000 Chevy Express van with the 4.3 liter V6? It looks there will be enough room between the pan and cross member to get the pan off without raising the engine. I noticed the pan is attached to the transmission in several places. I have to replace the water pump so I am considering replacing the timing cover(which also leaks) and the oil pan gasket if it is a "do at home" job. Thanks for any help! David

Thats a job......but remember the oil pick-up tube comes down 4 or 6 inches too.... the engine would have to be raised to clear it.
