First let me start by saying "Thanks" to Jim N - I did find the crank sensor. But now I really need some HELP. My car a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am, with the 2.4L SFI DOHC. I continually get a p0301 code. We have tried changing:

Plugs
Boots
Coil Packs
Cam Sensor
Crank Senosr

Have had the ICM tested and it tested fine.......we are out of ideas and no one seems to be able to narrow down the problem. We don't mind replacing parts if we knew for sure what to replace or what to test to find something else. No matter what we have done to the car we still get the same code.......could someone PLEASE help. Thanks so much!!

...when you run out of ideas I think it's normally time to take it to a mechanic's shop. They can take a look at the car & typically have a fair amount of experience. By the sounds of it the diagnostic fees would pay for it's self in parts you don't replace yourself. No offense intended, but even the experts need a second opinion sometimes.

Either way the path to fixing anything is to isolate the issue as much as humanly possible. Look for any way to eliminate as much as possible, which can be hard on an engine...
