Sunlight may have pixelated it. Does it still illuminate? If not there will be a short in the internals of the unit. You can do 2 things. Spend the money to get an electronics expert to do diagnosis and repair or replace. Either one will probably cost the same. The LCD could be at "end of life" stage.
