98 Tracer (Escort) Dash Mount/Stereo Help Quote | Reply

Hi,

This is my first post on this message board, I’ve been on a few others but they seem to be quite dead in terms of posts that aren’t all how do I do this or this… and I wanted to find one where I could post some of my experiences and questions!!Laugh

Basically my problem is fairly simple I need to identify a part so I can get a replacement! I replaced the stock stereo in my 98 Mercury (Escort) Tracer GS. I took a ton of pictures while doing the replacement so I could post a short guide online, I couldn’t find any free guides when I looked. Anyway in the process of replacing the stereo I damaged the cog that fits on the temperature dial on the oval control panel that also houses the stereo.

I’ve attached a front and rear picture to help identify the part! The part on the rear is in the center and is grey in color, it fits to the front center temperature hot/cold knob.

Thanks in advance for the assistance and if anyone knows a good place I can post my guide so others can lean from my mistakes please direct me there!Smile

Hey mate, this link is a guide to install stereo's as well.

But if you would like to post your guide with pics, I will put it as a generic guide on stereo installation for all to see once they hit the "stereo" thread In carjunky. I cannot help you with your missing part though. Have you tried a car wrecking place?

Thanks I'll give it a look!! I'll create the guide and make it ready with pictures is a PDF ok? I can reduce the quality and make it a decent size I'm sure! Is there any rules on posting pictures that have brand names on em e.g. the stereo?

Thanks again! Blush

Hey mate, Because this site is a non-promotional site, I am unsure if the brand names will cause a ruckus. I doubt it though. Just create a new Thread in this forum title "Generic Car Installation Instructions" Once you have done that I will "sticky" the thread to make it appear at the top. Use a link to get to the PDF, which will mean you will have to post the PDF somewhere on the web. Then PM me when it is up and I will get it squared away for you.

Thanks for you contribution.
