ping noise Can't Post

I have a 2001 Saturn SC1 coupe with 57500 miles, automatic. When coming down hills especially or to a stop and turning the wheel right I hear a "ping noise" much like a noise on a game show when someone answers a correct answer. I can't tell if it is in the steering or brakes. It is also happening more frequently when weight is transferred to the front of the car. Does anyone know what this could be. I've been to various forums and questioned mechanics and no one seems to know

A wild guess here: If this car uses the typical spring loaded door jam switches for the interior lights or warnings about the door and key still in ignition ---- it may be torque on the body at one of the switches which may be the ding you would get from leaving keys in ign when getting out.

Has happened to me! Just tape a dime where the switch contacts the door or something that fits and won't hurt anything and see if it quits. If so that switch may be adjustible or just do a neat job of glueing on a shim so that it continues to detect that the door is shut. Some switches are in the latch and would be difficult to rig something is that's the case. Switch itself could have a fault.

It could be that or maybe you've won something, LOL, Smile!! Look for change in the ash tray!

Thanks for your help. It seems though that this noise is steering or brake related. sounds like a spring that has been bound up and released.

Coil springs for suspension can make noise. Try tapping on them with a rubber hammer and see if they make the sound you hear. If you think that is it hit back and I'll try at some corrections for that,

Still guessing,
